2011 Senior Design Project: Autonomous Underwater Robot

My senior design project was one of the most exciting and satisfying parts of my life.
It was just the six of us.  We needed to design an autonomous underwater robot.  So much work needed to be done.  It was obvious that we needed to start project planning and assigning tasks with deadlines early on if we would have any chance of completing the project in time for senior design day.  Among us we had 1 mechanical, 2 electrical, 1 computer, 1 industrial, and 1 system engineer.  With such a diverse group, it seemed like we would be able to take on a lot of work as a whole with little input from anyone outside.  I was the project manager/website and blog designer/presentation creator/machinist/co-builder/requirements gather/etc..  Basically, I tried to use all of my skills to their full potential during the entire project.

In the end, we had to sacrifice the autonomous part as that would've overloaded our sole programmer but we still had a successful project which attracted a lot of attention.  The final product was functional via manual control.  All it needed when we turned in our work was the program to make it autonomous.

Please enjoy the photos along with the project blog which is still up and running.
